- 1. India is a member of almost all major world economic and trade organizations – the IMF, World Bank, WTO, SAFTA, BRICS, G-20, East Asia Summit, G8+5, SAARC, AIIB, BIMSTEC, RCEP, SCO, and United Nations
2. For all its problems, Indian economy is likely to do well in next few decades due to large percent of young in its population, habit of saving, and openness to global trade and brands.
3. India’s history of commerce and trade is deep – citizens of the Indus Valley Civilisation (2800 BC – 1800 BC) practised agriculture, used weights and measures, made tools, domesticated animals, and traded with other cities across the Oceans!
4. The first major economic reform in India happened in 1991 under pressure, when the Soviet Union collapsed and Indian balance of payments crisis happened.
5. India consistently ranks in top 3 in the world in agriculture output, but share in GDP remains low accounting for less than 17%.
6. India’s foreign exchange reserves have remained above US $ 360 billion for some time now.
7. Indian economy may grow by approximately 7% plus in 2016-17 as per various estimates.
8. Mumbai, Maharashtra is considered the financial capital of India.
9. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh are the three most industrialized states of India.
10. The Services Sector in India is a huge contributor to national GDP, but with relatively low employment-intensity, it leads to a skewed GDP composition.

2. इसकी सभी समस्याओं के बावजूद भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था के अगले कुछ दशकों के दौरान अच्छे प्रदर्शन की संभावना है, इसके कारण हैं इसकी जनसंख्या का बड़ा हिस्सा युवा है, बचत करने की आदत, और वैश्विक व्यापार और ब्रांड्स के प्रति इसका खुलापन
3. व्यापार और वाणिज्य का भारत का इतिहास काफी गहरा है – सिंधु घाटी की सभ्यता (ईसापूर्व 2800 - 1800) के नागरिक कृषि करते थे, वजन एवं मापों का उपयोग करते थे, उपकरणों का निर्माण करते थे, पशुओं को पालतू बनाते थे, और महासागरों के पार के शहरों के साथ व्यापार करते थे !
4. भारत में पहले प्रमुख आर्थिक सुधार वर्ष 1991 में दबाव के तहत तब किये गए थे जब सोवियत संघ का पतन हो गया था और भारत में भुगतान संतुलन का संकट पैदा हुआ था
5. कृषि पैदावार में भारत लगातार विश्व के शीर्ष 3 देशों में बना हुआ है, परंतु सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) में हिस्सेदारी कम रही है, जो 17 प्रतिशत से कम है
6. हाल के कुछ समय के दौरान भारत के विदेशी विनिमय भंडार 360 अरब डॉलर से अधिक रहे हैं
7. विभिन्न अनुमानों के अनुसार वर्ष 2016-17 के दौरान भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था में लगभग 7 प्रतिशत से अधिक की दर से वृद्धि होने की संभावना है
8. महाराष्ट्र में स्थित मुंबई को देश की आर्थिक राजधानी माना जाता है
9. महाराष्ट्र, तमिलनाडु और उत्तरप्रदेश देश के तीन सर्वाधिक औद्योगीकृत राज्य हैं
10. भारत का सेवा क्षेत्र राष्ट्रीय सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) का विशाल योगदानकर्ता है, हालांकि इसकी रोजगार सघनता सापेक्ष रूप से कम है, जिसका परिणाम विषम सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) संयोजन में होता है
