- 1. Society and culture – Thousands thronging the beach in Chennai demanding the Jallikattu festival be allowed to go on as usual, have brought the government to its knees. Critics like PETA allege that the bulls are indirectly tortured in the festivals, hence a ban was sought legally.
2. Demonetisation – In the figures shared by the RBI Governor Urjit Patel with the PAC that questioned him, it claimed that 60% of banned currency has been remonetised, i.e. Rs.9.2 lakh crores.
3. Indian politics – The “Raisina Dialogue” saw Indian foreign secretary Shri S. Jaishankar reminding China that India is as sensitive to its territorial integrity as China is about her own. Hence, China must see things from the Indian perspective.
4. World politics – Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the UN that bigger nations (referring to US) should not try to impose their will on smaller ones. This perspective should make Vietnam, South Korea and Mongolia very happy, who have had some troubles with China.
5. Corporate – Reliance Jio is likely to extend its almost free services beyond the 01 March deadline. It will launch extremely low-priced options for data and voice to test ‘customer-stickiness’ (likelihood of staying with Jio).
6. Indian politics – The CBI has said it will launch a probe against Delhi’s AAP Deputy CM Manish Sisodia for alleged irregularities in a social media programme “Talk to AK”. Arvind Kejriwal and Sisodia have angrily reacted saying it is the instigated by PM Modi because they have exposed his own corruption.
7. Indian economy – It’s disinvestment time! The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given the go-ahead to the listing (selling a part of government’s shareholding) of five state general insurers. Govt. stake will reduce from 100% to 75%.
8. Indian politics – Violence rocked politics at different places. While BJP MLA Sangeet Som (Sardana UP) was booked for screening footage of violence during 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, a BJP worker was killed in Kannur in Kerala, leading to a call for hartal (strike).
9. World politics – In another shock to China, a delegation from Taiwan is likely to attend the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump on Friday. China insists everyone should respect the “One China” policy.
10. World economy – The chief of the IMF Christine Lagarde has warned that as Britain gears up for a sharp Brexit, pain is likely to be deep.

- 1. समाज और संस्कृति – हजारों लोग चेन्नई के तटों पर इकठ्ठा हो रहे हैं और मांग कर रहे हैं कि जल्लीकट्टू के त्यौहार को पूर्ववत चलने देने की अनुमति दी जाए। उन्होंने सरकार को घुटने टेकने के लिए मजबूर कर दिया है। पेटा जैसे आलोचकों का आरोप है कि इस त्यौहार के दौरान बैलों पर अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से अत्याचार होता है, इसीलिए इसपर कानूनी प्रतिबंध की मांग की गई थी
2. विमुद्रीकरण – आरबीआई गवर्नर उर्जित पटेल द्वारा विमुद्रीकरण पर उनसे सवाल-जवाब करने वाली लोक लेखा समिति के साथ साझा किये गए आंकड़ों में दावा किया है कि विमुद्रित की गई मुद्रा में से 60 प्रतिशत मुद्रा, अर्थात 9.2 लाख करोड़ रुपये का पुनः मुद्रीकरण किया जा चुका है
3. भारतीय राजनीति – “रायसीना डायलाग” (चर्चा) के दौरान भारत के विदेश सचिव श्री एस. जयशंकर को चीन को यह याद दिलाते हुए देखा गया कि भारत भी अपनी प्रादेशिक अखंडता के प्रति उतना ही संवेदनशील है जितना चीन अपनी। अतः चीन को स्थितियों को भारतीय परिप्रेक्ष्य में देखना चाहिए
4. विश्व राजनीति – चीनी राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ में कहा कि बड़े देशों को (अमेरिका के संदर्भ में) अपनी मर्जी छोटे देशों पर अधिरोपित (थोपनी) नहीं करनी चाहिए। उनकी यह अवधारणा वियतनाम, दक्षिण कोरिया और मंगोलिया जैसे देशों को खुश करेगी, जिनके चीन के साथ कुछ मतभेद होते रहे हैं
5. निगम – संभावना है कि रिलायंस जियो अपनी लगभग मुफ्त सेवा को 1 मार्च की समय-सीमा से आगे बढ़ा सकती है। ग्राहक-स्थिरता (जियो के साथ बने रहने की संभावना) का परीक्षण करने के लिए वह अत्यंत अल्प लागत वाली डेटा और स्वर सेवा शुरू करेगी
6. भारतीय राजनीति – केंद्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो (सीबीआई) ने कहा है कि वह “टॉक टु ए के” नामक सामाजिक मीडिया कार्यक्रम में हुई कथित अनियमितताओं के लिए दिल्ली की आम आदमी पार्टी सरकार के उप-मुख्यमंत्री मनीष सिसोदिया के विरुद्ध जांच शुरू करेगी। अरविंद केजरीवाल और मनीष सिसोदिया ने इसपर नाराज प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त करते हुए कहा है कि यह प्रधानमंत्री मोदी द्वारा उकसाने पर किया गया है क्योंकि उन्होंने स्वयं उनके भ्रष्टाचार को उजागर किया है
7. भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था – वर्तमान समय विनिवेश का है ! आर्थिक मामलों की मंत्रिमंडलीय समिति (सीसीईए) ने पांच राज्य सामान्य बीमा कंपनियों को सूचीबद्ध (लिस्टिंग) की (सरकार की अंश भागीदारी के एक हिस्से को बेचने की) अनुमति प्रदान कर दी है। इसके कारण सरकार का स्वामित्व 100 प्रतिशत से घटकर 75 प्रतिशत रह जाएगा
8. भारतीय राजनीति – विभिन्न स्थानों पर राजनीतिक हिंसा हुई है। जहाँ एक ओर भाजपा विधायक संगीत सोम (सरदाना, उत्तरप्रदेश) पर वर्ष 2013 में हुए मुजफ्फरनगर दंगों के दौरान हुई हिंसा के फुटेज की संवीक्षा के लिए मामला दर्ज किया गया है वहीं दूसरी ओर केरल के कन्नूर में एक भाजपा कार्यकर्ता की मौत हुई है, जिसके परिणामस्वरूप हड़ताल का आह्वान किया गया है
9. विश्व राजनीति – चीन को एक अन्य धक्का देते हुए ताइवान के एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल द्वारा राष्ट्रपति डॉनल्ड ट्रम्प के शुक्रवार को होने वाले शपथ-ग्रहण समारोह में शामिल होने की संभावना है। चीन का आग्रह है कि सभी को “एक चीन” नीति का सम्मान करना चाहिए
10. विश्व अर्थव्यवस्था – अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्राकोष (आईएमएफ) की अध्यक्ष क्रिस्टीन लैगार्डे ने चेतावनी दी है कि जैसे-जैसे ब्रिटेन एक तीव्र ब्रेक्सिट की तैयारी करेगा, वैसे-वैसे कष्ट गहरा होने की संभावना है

- 1. The current accepted theory of the Universe’s creation is “The Big Bang Theory” which says that our universe came into being roughly 14 billion (1400 crore) years ago. Space and time both emerged with a fixed energy and matter.
2. Our planet Earth was created in the solar system by the cooling down of a mass of gas roughly 4.5 billion (450 crore) years ago.
3. The Indian philosopher Kanada, founder of the Vaisheshika school, developed “atomism” theory proposing light and heat as varieties of the same substance. He denied the existence of “hard” matter saying movement is nothing but flashes of a stream of energy.
4. Buddhist philosopher Dignaga (fifth century AD) proposed atoms to be point-sized, durationless, and made of energy.
5. While the mass of the Universe is estimated to be 1053 kg, the mass of the Earth is around 5.9 x 1024 kg.
6. While the diameter of the Universe is estimated to be at least 91 billion light years, the diameter of our Earth is around 12,600 km.
7. The earliest fossil evidence for life on Earth is the microbial mat fossils found in 3.48 billion-year-old sandstone in Western Australia, and the biogenic graphite found in 3.7 billion-year-old metasedimentary rocks in Western Greenland.
8. The Earth’s entire structure is made up of the Inner Core, Outer Core, Asthenosphere, Mantle, Upper Mantle, Crust and the Lithosphere.
9. Seven tectonic plates make up the Earth’s upper surface crust – the Pacific Plate, African Plate, North American Plate, Indo-Australian Plate, Eurasian Plate, South American Plate, and the Antartic Plate.

8. पृथ्वी की संपूर्ण संरचना आतंरिक तत्व (कोर), बाह्य तत्व (कोर), एस्थेनोस्फीयर, मेंटल, ऊपरी मेंटल, भूपटल और स्थलमंडल से बनी हुई है
9. सात विवर्तनिकी प्लेटों ने पृथ्वी के ऊपरी सतह भूपटल का निर्माण किया है – प्रशांत प्लेट, अफ़्रीकी प्लेट, उत्तर अमेरिकी प्लेट, इंडो-ऑस्ट्रलियाई प्लेट, यूरेशियाई प्लेट, दक्षिण अमेरिकी प्लेट और अंटार्कटिक प्लेट
10. सामान्यतः महासागरों से निकटता जलवायु को मध्यम बनाएगी। इस प्रकार, स्कैंडिनेवियाई प्रायद्वीप की जलवायु उत्तरी कनाडा के समान उत्तरी अक्षांशों की जलवायु की तुलना में अधिक मध्यम होती है
