- 1. People and personalities – In the sensational wheels-within-wheels Sheena Bora murder case, both husband and wide Indrani and Peter Mukherjea are charged with murder, in a special CBI court.
2. Natural disasters and accidents – The underwater search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 (since 2014) has ended with no trace of the plane. 239 people were on board the ill-fated aircraft, and millions were spent in ocean floor searching.
3. Indian politics – The young and aggressive leader of the Gujarat Patidar community Hardik Patel, who is leading the movement demanding reservations in govt. jobs, launched a full-scale attack on PM Narendra Modi and his appearance on the Khadi calendar.
4. Corporate – The boss of Samsung Korea has been engulfed in a corruption scandal that scarred President Park Geun-hye's administration. He may be arrested for bribery.
5. Indian economy – Bad news on Service Tax front! Due to demonetization and the consequent demand slump, and due to GST rollout delay, the government may consider raising the Service Tax in the Union Budget 2017.
6. Society and culture – For a Kashmiri girl to become part of mainstream India is too much for the separatists of the State, it would seem, as Dangal star and 16-year old Zaira Wasim (who played Geeta) apologized for meeting Jammu-Kashmir CM Ms.Mufti. Superstar Aamir Khan came to her defence online, but did not say anything about the intolerance of separatists, even as he had freely and fearlessly criticized India’s intolerance in 2016.
7. Indian politics – The young scion of the Samajwadi clan Akhilesh Yadav has wrested the precious cycle symbol from his ex-wrestler father Mulayam, as per Election Commission’s verdict. This is the beginning of a new era in UP politics. A grand alliance should be announced soon. BSP is the other major contender, in addition to BJP.
8. World politics – The EU has reacted with defiance to earth-shaking comments from Donald Trump who criticized the NATO as being obsolete, and that he expects more nations to leave the EU. World politics is in for a major shakeout!
9. Terrorism – A terror shooter who massacred new-year revelers in an Istanbul nightclub, has been captured by Turkish authorities. They claim he has confessed he did it for the ISIS.
10. Indian politics – It’s dialogue time. India's flagship geo-political conference “Raisina Dialogue” will see 250 delegates from 65 countries participate and an address by PM Modi. Theme – “Multiculturalism and Multi-polarity”. The MEA, in partnership with Observer Research Foundation, is the organizer.

6. समाज और संस्कृति - ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि एक कश्मीरी युवती का मुख्यधारा के भारत का हिस्सा बनना राज्य के अलगाववादियों को जरा भी रास नहीं आ रहा है, क्योंकि फिल्म दंगल से प्रसिद्ध हुई 16 वर्षीय जायरा वसीम (जिसने फिल्म में गीता का किरदार निभाया था) को जम्मू कश्मीर की मुख्यमंत्री महबूबा मुफ्ती से मुलाकात करने के लिए माफी मांगनी पड़ी। सुपरस्टार आमिर खान ऑनलाइन उनके बचाव के लिए आये परंतु उन्होंने अलगाववादियों की असहिष्णुता पर कुछ नहीं कहा, जबकि वर्ष 2016 में उन्होंने भारत में असहिष्णुता पर मुक्त रूप से और साहसपूर्वक बात की थी
7. भारतीय राजनीति - निर्वाचन आयोग के फैसले के अनुसार समाजवादी कुल के युवा वारिस अखिलेश यादव ने अपने पूर्व पहलवान पिता मुलायम सिंह यादव से लड़कर साइकिल चुनाव चिन्ह जीत लिया है। यह उत्तरप्रदेश की राजनीति में एक नए युग की शुरुआत है। एक महागठबंधन की घोषणा शीघ्र ही की जाने की संभावना है। भाजपा के अतिरिक्त इन चुनावों में बसपा भी एक अन्य दावेदार है

- 1. The Israeli Defense Forces are unique in some ways, which is due to Israel’s unique security situation in the Middle East, surrounded by many Arab neighbours.
2. While Israel maintains “deliberate ambiguity” on the subject, Israel Defense Forces are assumed to have nuclear capabilities, possessing between 80-400 nuclear weapons, with a nuclear triad of delivery systems.
3. Israel is believed to also have an intercontinental ballistic missile – the Jericho III (named after the Biblical city).
4. Mandatory conscription of women is another unique feature of Israel defence forces.
5. The bare truth that Israel cannot afford to lose a single war makes it defensive on the strategic level, with no territorial ambitions. It desires to avoid war by political means and maintains a credible deterrent posture.
6. India and Israel enjoy strong military and strategic ties, with Indian citizens considered extremely pro-Israel. India is Israel's second-largest economic partner in Asia, and also the largest customer of Israeli arms in the world.
7. The Russian Federation and Israel are the two biggest foreign suppliers of arms to the People's Republic of China. China has become an extensive market for Israel's military industries and arms manufacturers, and trade with Israel has allowed it to obtain "dual-use" technology (both civilian and military use) which the US and EU were reluctant to provide.
8. A report by Strategic Foresight Group estimated the opportunity cost of conflict for the Middle East from 1991–2010 at $12 trillion.
9. The “two-state solution” is a solution of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict which calls for "two states for two groups of people" – an independent State of Palestine alongside the State of Israel, west of the Jordan River.

The "one-state solution" refers to a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the creation of a unitary, federal or confederate Israeli-Palestinian state, which would encompass all of the present territory of Israel, the West Bank including East Jerusalem, and possibly the Gaza Strip.
