        • 1. Sports – In his usual style, Mahendra Singh Dhoni surprised everyone by resigning as Captain of Indian side in limited overs format. He’ll be available as a player. His stint transformed Team India into an aggressive, thinking and successful side.
          2. World politics – India asserted that China must hear the voice of the world on terrorism, in response to repeated blocks by it on the UN banning Pak citizen and JeM chief Masood Azhar.
          3. Indian politics – The Election Commission has declared the schedule for Assembly Elections in five states. This commences the big battle to be fought on major issues like demonetization etc.
          4. Demonetisation – In what can be called a proof of the hurried implementation of demonetization (and remonetisation), farmers in MP’s Sheopur district get genuine Rs.2000 notes without Mahatma Gandhi’s picture!
          5. Terrorism – The BJP has claimed in a tweet that Rs.15,000 crores worth of assets of don Dawood Ibrahim have been seized by UAE government, after Modi govt handed over a dossier with details during the 2015 visit.
          6. Indian politics – In a display of infighting in dynastic politics, father and son slog it out in Uttar Pradesh for the “Cycle” symbol. Akhilesh Yadav has a strong upper hand.
          7. Indian politics – Supreme leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Sharad Pawar will move court against social activist Anna Hazare after he named him in a PIL filed in the alleged Rs.25,000 crore sugar cooperative factory scam.
          8. Demonetisation – The Reserve Bank of India has refused to exchange the demonetized notes after the 30 Dec deadline passed. Only Indian citizens who were abroad during 08 Nov to 30 Dec can exchange the defunct notes! This is directly against their own promise made earlier.
          9. World politics – Donald Trump has rejected intelligence reports on Russian hacking during the US elections. He repeated the claims of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange on the matter.
          10. Defence and military – In yet another proof that China has turned its south Asia policy into a zero-sum game with India, China warned that if India continued to make long-range ICBMs, then it will help Pakistan do the same.

        • 1. खेल - अपनी चिरपरिचित शैली में ही महेंद्र सिंह धोनी ने सीमित ओवरों के क्रिकेट की कप्तानी से त्यागपत्र देकर एक बार फिर से सभी को आश्चर्य का धक्का दिया है। हालांकि खिलाडी के रूप में वे उपलब्ध रहेंगे। कप्तान के रूप में उनके कार्यकाल में भारतीय टीम एक आक्रामक, सोचने वाली और सफल टीम के रूप में उभरी
          2. विश्व राजनीति - चीन द्वारा पाकिस्तान के नागरिक और जैश-ए-मोहम्मद के प्रमुख मसूद अजहर को संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ द्वारा आतंकवादी घोषित करने के मामले में बार-बार रूकावट डालने के प्रतिक्रियास्वरूप भारत ने दृढ़तापूर्वक कहा है कि चीन को आतंकवाद पर विश्व की आवाज को सुनना चाहिए
          3. भारतीय राजनीति - निर्वाचन आयोग ने पांच राज्यों में होने वाले विधानसभा चुनावों की तारीखों की घोषणा कर दी है। इसके साथ ही विमुद्रीकरण इत्यादि जैसे बड़े मुद्दों पर लडे जाने वाले युद्ध की शुरुआत हो गई है
          4. विमुद्रीकरण - जल्दबाजी में क्रियान्वित किये गए विमुद्रीकरण (और पुनर्मुद्रीकरण) के सबूत के रूप में मध्यप्रदेश के श्योपुर जिले के किसानों को बिना महात्मा गाँधी के चित्र वाले असली 2000 रुपये के नोट मिले हैं!
          5. आतंकवाद - एक ट्वीट में भाजपा ने दावा किया है कि यू.ए.ई. सरकार द्वारा डॉन दाऊद इब्राहीम की 15,000 करोड़ मूल्य की संपत्ति को जब्त किया गया है, यह कार्यवाही प्रधानमंत्री की वर्ष 2015 की यात्रा के दौरान इस संबंध में सौंपे गए एक डोजियर के बाद की गई है
          6. भारतीय राजनीति - वंशवादी राजनीति की अंतर्कलह के प्रदर्शन में पिता और पुत्र अब उत्तरप्रदेश में “साइकिल” के चुनाव चिन्ह के लिए संघर्षरत हैं। इस संदर्भ में मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव का पलड़ा भारी नजर आता है
          7. भारतीय राजनीति - राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस पार्टी के सर्वोच्च नेता शरद पवार अब तथाकथित चीनी कारखाने के 25,000 करोड़ रुपये के घोटाले पर एक जनहित याचिका में अपना नाम आने के बाद सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता अन्ना हजारे के विरुद्ध न्यायालय जाने वाले हैं
          8. विमुद्रीकरण - 30 दिसंबर की समय-सीमा समाप्त होने के बाद आरबीआई ने विमुद्रित नोटों को बदलने से इंकार कर दिया है। केवल 8 नवंबर से 30 दिसंबर के दौरान देश से बाहर रहने वाले भारतीय नागरिकों के ही विमुदित नोट बदले जाएँगे ! यह स्पष्ट रूप से उनके पूर्व में किये गए वाडे के विरुद्ध है !
          9. विश्व राजनीति - अमेरिकी चुनावों के दौरान रूस द्वारा की गई हैकिंग के संबंध में आई खुफिया रिपोर्ट को डॉनल्ड ट्रम्प ने नकार दिया है। इस मामले में उन्होंने विकिलीक्स के संस्थापक जूलियन असान्जे के दावे को दोहराया है
          10. रक्षा एवं सेना - चीन द्वारा अपनी दक्षिण एशिया नीति को भारत के साथ शून्य-जमा खेल (zero sum game) में परिवर्तित करने के एक और सबूत के रूप में चीन ने चेतावनी दी है कि यदि भारत लंबी मारक क्षमता वाली अंतर-महाद्वीपीय बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल का निर्माण जारी रखता है तो वह पाकिस्तान को भी ऐसा करने के लिए सहायता करेगा

        • 1. From largest to smallest, the groups in which life forms are categorized, are – Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species
          2. Kingdoms are giant groups, with millions of kinds of organisms in each. There are usually five kingdoms, containing animals, plants, fungi, prokaryotes, and protoctists (the last two are different sorts of one-celled organisms). Other systems have six or more kingdoms.
          3. Species are the smallest groups. A species consists of all the animals of the same type, able to breed and produce young.
          4. In the six kingdom classification, Life on earth is divided into – Archaebacteria, Eubacteria, Protists, Fungi, Plants and Animals.
          5. Archaebacteria are bacteria with internal membranes and are found in deep-ocean thermal vents, hot springs, and brine marine environments.
          6. Eubacteria are single-celled organisms without a nucleus. Bacteria make up this kingdom. There are more forms of bacteria than any other organism on Earth.
          7. Protists are mostly single-celled organisms that have a nucleus, and usually live in water. Some move around, while others are stationary. Examples : some algae, paramecium, and amoeba
          8. Fungi are motionless organisms that absorb nutrients for survival. Examples : mushrooms, molds, and yeasts.
          9. Plants contain chlorophyll, the green pigment necessary for photosynthesis. They use it to convert energy from sunlight into food. Their cell walls are made sturdy by a material called cellulose. Examples : garden flowers, agricultural crops, grasses, shrubs, ferns, mosses, and conifers.
          10. Animals are multi-celled organisms, eat food for survival, and possess nervous systems. Two classes – vertebrates and invertebrates. Examples : mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds and fish. Basically, all of us!
        • 1. सबसे बड़े से सबसे छोटे तक, जिन समूहों में जीवन रूपों को वर्गीकृत किया जाता है, वे निम्नानुसार हैं - साम्राज्य, जाति, वर्ग, क्रम, परिवार, गण, प्रजाति
          2. साम्राज्य सबसे बड़े समूह होते हैं जिनमें प्रत्येक में करोड़ों प्रकार के जीवाणु होते हैं। आम तौर पर पांच प्रकार के साम्राज्य होते हैं, जिनमें पशु, वनस्पति, कवक, प्रोकेरियोट, प्रोटोक्टिस्ट शामिल होते हैं (इनमें से अंतिम दो एक कोशिका वाले भिन्न प्रकार के जीवाणु होते हैं) । अन्य व्यवस्थाओं में छह या अधिक साम्राज्य होते हैं
          3. प्रजातियाँ सबसे छोटे समूह होते हैं। एक प्रजाति में एक ही प्रकार के सभी पशु शामिल होते हैं, जो प्रजनन में और शिशु पुनर्निर्माण में सक्षम होते हैं।
          4. छह साम्राज्य वर्गीकरण में पृथ्वी का जीवन निम्न में विभाजित होता है - आर्चेबैक्टीरिया, इयुबैक्टीरिया, प्रोटिस्ट, कवक, वनस्पति और पशु
          5. आर्चेबैक्टीरिया आतंरिक झिल्ली वाले बैक्टीरिया होते हैं और ये गहरे समुद्र तापीय छिद्रों, गर्म झरनों और खारे समुद्री वातावरण में पाए जाते हैं
          6. इयुबैक्टीरिया बिना नाभिक वाले एकल-कोशिका जीवाणु होते हैं। बैक्टीरिया इस साम्राज्य का निर्माण करते हैं। पृथ्वी पर अन्य किसी भी जीव रूप की तुलना में बैक्टीरिया अधिक संख्या में होते हैं
          7. प्रोटिस्ट अधिकतर ऐसे एकल-कोशिका जीवाणु होते हैं जिनमें नाभिक होता है और ये आमतौर पर जल में रहते हैं। इनमें से कुछ एक स्थान से दूसरे स्थान पर विचरण करते हैं जबकि अन्य स्थाई होते हैं। उदाहरण - कुछ शैवाल, पेरामिशियम और अमीबा
          8. कवक गतिहीन जीवाणु होते हैं जो अस्तित्व के लिए पोषकों को अवशोषित करते हैं। उदाहरण - कुकुरमुत्ता, फफूंद, और खमीर
          9. वनस्पतियों में पर्णहरित (क्लोरोफिल) होता है, वह हरा रंग जो प्रकाश संश्लेषण के लिए आवश्यक है। के इसका उपयोग सूर्य प्रकाश से प्राप्त ऊर्जा को भोजन में परिवर्तित करने के लिए करते हैं। उनकी कोशिकाओं की दीवारें सेल्यूलोस नामक पदार्थ से कड़ी बनाई जाती हैं। उदाहरण - उद्यान फूल, कृषि फसलें, घांस, झाड़ियाँ, फर्न, काई और शंकु वृक्ष
          10. पशु बहु-कोशिका वाले जीव होते हैं, जो जीवित रहने के लिए भोजन ग्रहण करते हैं, और इनमें तंत्रिका तंत्र होता है। इनके दो वर्ग होते हैं - कशेरुकी जीव (रीढ़ की हड्डी वाले) और अकशेरुकी जीव (बिना रीढ़ की हड्डी वाले) । उदाहरण - स्तनधारी, उभयचर, सरिसृप, पक्षी और मछलियाँ। मूलतः हम सभी !
