- 1. World politics – In the last speech as President, Barack Obama warned Americans against falling for racism, anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim sentiment in Trump’s Presidency.
2. Defence and military – In a scathing indictment of the BSF officers in Humhuma camp near Srinagar airport, shopkeepers allegedly said that they benefit from cheap petrol, diesel, food and vegetables that officers sell in market. This is a damaging feedback if true.
3. Indian politics – Rahul Gandhi comes under media criticism for his 11 days long holiday in Europe when Indian politics witnessed election announcements and hectic activity. He may also cancel a Congress delegation visit to China now.
4. World economy – Alibaba’s CEO Jack Ma (also a huge investor in major Indian internet brands) met Donald Trump and promised to bring 10 lac jobs to America!
5. People and personalities – When PM Modi skipped his regular Yoga session to meet his mother in Ahmedabad, AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that he (Arvind) never needs to make such meetings a PR stunt as he touches his mother’s feet daily and seeks blessings, and she and also his wife, stay with him.
6. Indian economy – At the Vibrant Gujarat summit, the PM Narendra Modi reiterated his vision of creating a digitally enabled India, and said he is committed to bringing more historic reforms.
7. Demonetisation – While NITI Aayog chief Amitabh Kant has been predicting that Aadhaar and UPI-based payments will make Cards and PoS machines irrelevant soon, digital payment solution providers and Point-of-Sale (PoS) machine-makers rejected the prediction.
8. Corporates – Reliance Jio’s average download speed reached 18 Mbps in December. At the same time, rival Airtel has filed a petition in Telecom tribunal alleging that TRAI is actively aiding Jio to break rules applied to the sector.
9. World politics – Intelligence agencies have warned President-elect Trump that Russians may have damaging personal and financial information on him.
10. Games and sports – The FIFA football world cup from 2026 will feature 48 teams, thereby increasing African and Asian participation.

4. विश्व अर्थव्यवस्था - अलीबाबा के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी जैक मा (भारत के प्रमुख इंटरनेट ब्रांड्स में भी भारी निवेश करने वाले) ने डॉनल्ड ट्रम्प के साथ मुलाकात की और उन्होंने ट्रम्प से 10 लाख नौकरियां अमेरिका में वापस लाने का वादा भी किया है !
5. व्यक्ति एवं व्यक्तित्व - जब प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने अहमदाबाद में अपनी माँ से मिलने के लिए अपने नियमित योग को छोड़ दिया, तो आम आदमी पार्टी के अरविंद केजरीवाल ने ट्वीट किया कि वे (अरविंद) इस प्रकार की मुलाकातों को कभी भी जनसंपर्क का तमाशा नहीं बनाते हैं क्योंकि वे प्रतिदिन अपनी माँ के पैर छूते हैं और उनका आशीर्वाद लेते हैं, और उनकी माँ और उनकी पत्नी भी उनके साथ रहती हैं

8. निगम - रिलायंस जियो की औसत डाउनलोड गति दिसंबर में 18 एमबीपीएस तक पहुँच गई। उसी समय प्रतिद्वंद्वी एयरटेल ने दूरसंचार न्यायाधिकरण में एक याचिका दायर की है जिसमें यह आरोप लगाया गया है कि ट्राई सक्रिय रूप से जियो को दूरसंचार क्षेत्र के लिए लागू किये गए नियमों को तोड़ने में मदद कर रहा है
9. विश्व राजनीति - खुफिया अभिकरणों ने नव-निर्वाचित राष्ट्रपति ट्रम्प को चेतावनी दी है कि रूस के पास उनके लिए हानिकारक व्यक्तिगत और वित्तीय जानकारी हो सकती है

- 1. The Russian Empire sold the territory of Alaska to the U.S. Government on 30th March, 1867, in a treaty signed by President Andrew Johnson. The price was US $ 7.2 million (today’s $ 123 million).
2. The US and USSR (Soviet Union) were engaged in a bitter battle of primacy during the Cold War which lasted from 1950 to 1991. The most serious flashpoint was the Cuba crisis 1962.
3. After the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the end of the Cold War, the U.S.-Russian relationship expanded rapidly, both bilaterally and multilaterally, in a wide range of areas, including combating the threats of terrorism, nuclear arms proliferation, HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases.
4. China – Japan relations – The Japanese invaded Manchuria in September 1931, when the Army of the Empire of Japan invaded and finally established a puppet state called Manchukuo. The occupation lasted until the end of World War II. This explains the present-day Chinese hostility towards the Japanese.
5. The Second Sino-Japanese War (July 7, 1937 – September 9, 1945) was a military conflict fought between the Republic of China (under the Kuomintang Party of Chiang Kai-shek) and the Empire of Japan from 1937 to 1945. The First Sino-Japanese War was from 1894–95.
6. Although both Japan and South Korea are American allies, they are not the best of friends with each other. There are many historical reasons for this.
7. The Strait of Malacca is a narrow, 850 km stretch between the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Named after the Malacca sultanate that ruled from 1400 and 1511, it is one of the most important trade routes today. The Chinese want to create an alternative through the CPEC.
8. Piracy off the coast of Somalia has threatened international shipping since 2005 onwards. War in the early 21st century. Both India and China have had naval cooperation in trying to curb this menace.
9. The ambitious Chinese have built a “String of Pearls” – a geopolitical construct – to expand their influence in the Indian Ocean region. It is a network of Chinese military and commercial facilities and relationships along its sea lines of communication, extending from Chinese mainland to Port Sudan.
10. India was refused the GPS data (by the USA) during the Kargil war against Pakistan. That prompted the government to start work on its own version of the GPS, and the fully-configured IRNSS started functioning in 2016.

4. चीन - जापान संबंध - जापान ने सितंबर 1931 में मंचूरिया पर आक्रमण किया था, उस समय जापान के साम्राज्य की सेना ने आक्रमण किया और अंततः मंचुकुओ नामक एक कठपुतली सरकार स्थापित की। जापान का यह कब्जा द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध समाप्त होने तक रहा। इससे जापानियों के प्रति चीन की आज की शत्रुता स्पष्ट हो जाति है
5. द्वितीय चीन-जापान युद्ध (7 जुलाई 1937 - 9 सितंबर 1945) चीनी गणराज्य (च्यांग काई शेक की कुओमिन्तांग पार्टी के अधीन) और जापानी साम्राज्य के बीच वर्ष 1937 से 1945 के बीच लड़ा गया एक सैन्य संघर्ष था। प्रथम चीन-जापान युद्ध 1894 - 95 के दौरान हुआ था

8. सोमालिया के तट के निकट समुद्री डकैती ने वर्ष 2005 के बाद से अंतर्राष्ट्रीय व्यापार के लिए खतरा पैदा कर दिया है। 21 वीं सदी के प्रारंभ में युद्ध। इस संकट को रोकने के प्रयास में चीन और भारत, दोनों ने नौसैनिक सहयोग किया हुआ है
