          3. Regional politics – Reacting to US Ambassador to UN Nikki Haley’s statement on US intervention in de-escalating tension between India and Pakistan, India’s  External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said that Government’s position for bilateral redressal of all India-Pakistan issues in an environment free of terror and violence hasn’t changed. India has always rejected third party intervention in India-Pakistan relations.
          4. Defence and military – Nuclear-armed North Korea once again fired a KN-15 medium-range ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan, days after it warned of retaliation if the global community ramps up sanctions. Japan condemned the launch and said it violated UN Security Council resolutions.
          5. Demonetization – After demonetization of the Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 denomination notes in November 2016, the RBI in its board meeting has now cleared a proposal to introduce notes of Rs. 200 denomination. 6.
