Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his maiden visit to Himachal Pradesh will dedicate three mega hydro projects to the nation. During his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate NTPC's 800 MW Koldam Hydro Project in Bilaspur district, NHPC's 540 MW Parbati Stage-III project in Kullu district and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd's 412 MW Rampur project in Shimla district. Hydro power is environment friendly as compared to coal-fired plants.

प्रधानमंत्री बनने के बाद अपने पहले हिमाचल दौरे पर प्रधानमंत्री आज तीन विशाल जल विद्युत परियोजनाएं राष्ट्र को समर्पित करेंगे। हिमाचल प्रदेश पहुंचे प्रधानमंत्री बिलासपुर जिले में एनटीपीसी की 800 मेगावाट कोल्दम जल विद्युत परियोजना, कुल्लू जिले में एनएचपीसी की 540 मेगावाट पारबती तृतीय चरण परियोजना और शिमला जिले में सतलुज जल विद्युत निगम की 412 मेगावाट रामपुर परियोजना का उद्घाटन करेंगे। ज्ञात रहे कि पन-बिजली ताप-विद्युत से कहीं अधिक पर्यावरण-हितैषी होती है।

India’s first indigenously built nuclear submarine commissioned into naval service
INS Arihant, India’s first home-built nuclear submarine is a 6,000-ton vehicle which is capable of launching nuclear weapons from underwater. The commissioning of INS Arihant will give a substantial boost to India’s naval capabilities. The commissioning of the submarine has been quiet and the Indian Navy has declined to make any comment on the commissioning.

भारत की पहली स्वदेशी निर्मित परमाणु पनडुब्बी आईएनएस अरिहंत एक 6,000-टन वजनी पनडुब्बी है जो पानी के अंदर से परमाणु हथियार दागने में सक्षम है। इस पनडुब्बी के भारतीय नौसेना में शामिल होने से उसकी क्षमताओं में काफी वृद्धि होगी। पनडुब्बी का नौसेना में प्रवेश ख़ामोशी से किया गया और भारतीय नौसेना ने भी इसके प्रवेश पर किसी प्रकार की टिप्पणी करने से इनकार किया है।

The Supreme Court dismissed a petition by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seeking review of court’s decision endorsing Lodha Committee’s administrative reforms. The Court has been critical of the BCCI’s reluctance to implement sweeping changes that the commission headed by former Chief Justice R M Lodha has recommended. The Court has taken serious note of the defiance and obstructions by the BCCI.
भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड को एक और झटका देते हुए सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने लोढ़ा समिति के प्रशासनिक सुधारों के अनुपालन के न्यायालय के निर्णय पर पुनर्विचार के लिए बीसीसीआई द्वारा दायर पुनर्विचार याचिका को एक बार फिर से ख़ारिज कर दिया है। बोर्ड द्वारा समिति द्वारा सिफारिश के गए सुधारों को लागू करने में बरती गई उदासीनता पर न्यायालय ने गहरी नाराजगी व्यक्त की है। न्यायालय ने बीसीसीआई द्वारा किये गए उल्लंघनों और पेश की जा रही रुकावटों को काफी गंभीरता से लिया है।

Tripura government decides to construct road to Dipa Karmakar’s house
India’s Olympian gymnast Dipa Karmakar had, a few days back, expressed her desire to return the BMW gifted to her at the hands of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar for her outstanding performance at the Rio Olympics. She had stated that the road infrastructure to her house was not conducive to her owning a BMW. Moreover, there was no service center in the nearby area, and maintenance of the car would be difficult for her. Taking Dipa’s remarks seriously, Tripura government’s PWD has decided to construct proper road to Dipa’s house.

अब से कुछ दिन पूर्व भारत की ओलिंपिक जिमनास्ट दीपा कर्माकर ने ओलिंपिक में उनके शानदार प्रदर्शन पर उन्हें उपहार में मिली बीएमडब्लू कार वापस करने का निर्णय घोषित किया था। उनका कहना था कि उनके घर तक जाने के लिए सड़क की उचित व्यवस्था नहीं है, और साथ ही आसपास कोई सर्विस सेंटर भी नहीं है। अतः इस कार का रखरखाव करना उनके लिए संभव नहीं है। खिलाडी कि टिप्पणी को गंभीरता से लेते हुए त्रिपुरा सरकार ने उनके घर तक की सड़क की तुरंत मरम्मत करने का निर्णय लिया है।

In an unprecedented gesture the Supreme Court has summoned former S C judge, Justice Markandey Katju into a review petition and asked him to personally appear in court to “debate” his online lashing of the Bench's verdict commuting death penalty in the sensational 2011 Soumya rape and murder case. The three-judge bench took suo motu judicial notice of his personal blog for criticising the Supreme Court judges for relying on ‘hearsay evidence’.

सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने एक अप्रत्याशित कदम उठाते हुए सर्वोच्च न्यायालय के भूतपूर्व न्यायाधीश न्यायमूर्ति मार्कंडेय काटजू को नोटिस जारी करके पूछा है कि सौम्या दुष्कर्म और हत्या मामले में अदालत के फैसले में क्या खामी है। उनके उस ब्लॉग का संज्ञान (suo motu cognizance) लेते हुए, जिसमें उन्होंने इस मामले में अदालत के फैसले की आलोचना की थी, अदालत ने उन्हें स्वयं न्यायालय में उपस्थित रहकर यह बताने को कहा है कि फैसले में क्या खामी है।

The two-day bi-annual Global Investors Summit of the government of Madhya Pradesh begins at the state’s commercial capital Indore on October 22, 2016. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has been trying to lure global investors to invest in Madhya Pradesh, the ‘land of Opportunities’. The GST Council discussed possible tax-rates, which includes a four-slab structure of 6, 12, 18 and 26 per cent, with lower rates on essential commodities and highest rates for luxury goods. Also, the Council reached consensus on ways by which payment of compensation to states for any loss of revenue from implementation of the new indirect tax regime can be made.

जीएसटी परिषद ने मंगलवार को जीएसटी के तहत संभावित कर दरों पर चर्चा की, जिसमें क्रमशः 6, 12, 18 और 26 प्रतिशत की चार-स्तरीय कर संरचना शामिल है। प्रस्तावित कर संरचना में आवश्यक वस्तुओं पर सबसे कम कर अधिरोपित करने का प्रस्ताव है जबकि विलासिता वस्तुओं पर सर्वाधिक कर लिया जाएगा। साथ ही वित्तमंत्री की अध्यक्षता वाली जीएसटी परिषद राज्यों को जीएसटी के क्रियान्वयन से होने वाली किसी भी संभावित राजस्व हानि की क्षतिपूर्ति के तरीकों पर भी सहमति बनाने में सफल हुई है।

India’s strike capacity is all set to take a big step forward with India and Russia decide to jointly develop a new generation of Brahmos missile with 600 km plus range and the ability to hit protected targets with pinpoint accuracy. The development of this range of the missile would enable India to strike anywhere within Pakistan. This has been considered as a big benefit of India joining the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) in June this year.
