Cabinet approves 2% DA hike for Central Govt. employees, pensioners
The Union Cabinet approved a 2 percent increase in the dearness allowance of central govt. employees just ahead of Diwali. This decision of the government will benefit 50 lakh employees and around 58 lakh pensioners. The government had earlier increased the dearness allowance by six percent and made it 125 per cent of the basic pay. The decision has been taken in view of the rise in prices.

Cabinet approves 2% DA hike for Central Govt. employees, pensioners
The Union Cabinet approved a 2 percent increase in the dearness allowance of central govt. employees just ahead of Diwali. This decision of the government will benefit 50 lakh employees and around 58 lakh pensioners. The government had earlier increased the dearness allowance by six percent and made it 125 per cent of the basic pay. The decision has been taken in view of the rise in prices.
केन्द्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने सरकारी कर्मचारियों के महंगाई भत्ते में 2 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि को मंजूरी दी
दीपावली के त्यौहार से ठीक पहले केन्द्रीय कर्मचारियों के लिए सरकार की ओर से महंगाई भत्ते में दो प्रतिशत की वृद्धि की सौगात दी गई है। केंद्र सरकार के इस निर्णय से केन्द्रीय कर्मचारियों में ख़ुशी का माहौल है। गुरुवार को हुई मंत्रिमंडल की बैठक में इस प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी प्रदान की गई। माना जा रहा है कि सरकार के इस निर्णय से लगभग 50 लाख केन्द्रीय कर्मचारी और लगभग 58 लाख पेंशनधारी लाभान्वित होंगे।

Delhi High Court clears deck for auction of Taj Mansingh Hotel
The Delhi High Court has rejected the Indian Hotels Company Ltd.'s plea against the auction of the Taj Mansingh Hotel filed by NDMC. This is considered to be a big blow to the Tata group. The New Delhi Municipal Corporation had given the property on lease to IHCL for a period of 33 years. Ever since the expiry of the lease term, the company was running the hotel on extensions. Several companies had shown interest in the bidding, as it is a prime property with bright prospects in the heart of Delhi. Also note that this news is not related to other recent developments in the Tata Group.
दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय ने ताज मानसिंह होटल की नीलामी की अनुमति दी
दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय ने टाटा समूह की कंपनी इंडियन होटेल्स कंपनी लिमिटेड द्वारा ताज मानसिंह होटल की नीलामी के विरुद्ध दायर याचिका ख़ारिज कर दी है। इसके कारण संबंधित संपत्ति की नीलामी का मार्ग खुल गया है। ताज मानसिंह होटल की जमीन दिल्ली महानगर पालिका द्वारा कंपनी को 33 वर्षों के पट्टे पर दी गई थी। पट्टे की अवधि समाप्त होने के बाद कंपनी को अनेक बार समय-सीमा में वृद्धि प्रदान की गई थी। बाद में महानगरपालिका ने इसकी नीलामी के लिए कोर्ट में याचिका दायर की थी।

Govt. gives green signal to the Dalai Lama’s proposed Arunachal visit
The Central Government has cleared the proposed visit of exiled Tibetan leader Dalai Lama to the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh in 2017. The External Affairs Ministry rejected the Chinese Govt’s objection saying that the state was an integral part of India. China had earlier objected to the visit of US envoy Richard Verma to this north-eastern Indian state. The government’s recent decision is likely to further strain relations between New Delhi and Beijing, but Delhi has perhaps decided enough is enough.
केंद्र की मोदी सरकार ने चीन के विरोध को दरकिनार करते हुए निष्कासित तिब्बती नेता दलाई लामा की प्रस्तावित अरुणाचल प्रदेश यात्रा को मंजूरी दे दी है। इससे पूर्व चीन ने अमेरिकी राजदूत रिचर्ड वर्मा की अरुणाचल प्रदेश यात्रा का भी विरोध किया था। विदेश मंत्रालय ने चीन के विरोध को यह कहते हुए ख़ारिज कर दिया था कि यह उत्तर-पूर्वी राज्य भारत का अभिन्न हिस्सा है, और किसी दूसरे देश को इसमें हस्तक्षेप करने का अधिकार नहीं है। माना जा रहा है कि सरकार के इस कदम से दोनों देशों के बीच संबंध और बिगड़ सकते हैं।

Can Dalits be a poll issue, asks Supreme Court
The Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court wanted to know whether seeking votes in the name of Dalits could be a part of ban on use of religion, caste and language in the elections. During the hearing related to several petitions filed against the disqualification of various candidates facing charges of violation of the Representation of Peoples Act (RPA), 1951, the Court made this query. This issue is slowly gaining prominence, and it seems that in another ten years or so, there can be a major shift in rules regarding such soliciting.

सर्वोच्च न्यायालय की संवैधानिक पीठ ने यह प्रश्न उठाया है कि दलितों के नाम पर वोट मांगना भी धर्म, जाति और भाषा के नाम पर वोट मांगने पर रोक के दायरे में आयेगा या नहीं। पीठ जन प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम (RPA), के अनुच्छेद 123(3) के तहत उम्मीदवारों की योग्यता पर दायर विभिन्न याचिकाओं पर सुनवाई कर रही है। हाल के वर्षों में, इस प्रकार की अनेक याचिकाओं पर सुनवाई हुई है, और लगता है कि आनेवाले वर्षों में इन मुद्दों पर वोट मांगने संबंधी नियमों में आमूलचूल परिवर्तन हो सकता है।

Pakistan High Commission’s employee caught spying defence secrets from India has been asked to leave the country within 48 hours. He was declared ‘persona non-grata’ (unacceptable person). The Pakistan High Commissioner was earlier summoned in the morning, informed about the interception of his staff and conveyed India’s decision to shunt the said spying employee him out of India. A tit-for-tat action was taken by Pakistan also.

Cabinet clears strategic sale of sick PSUs
The government has cleared the sale of sick public sector undertakings (PSUs), subsidiaries and plants. This move is likely to speed up the process of privatisation which was stalled for more than a decade now. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has permitted the sale through a two-stage auction. The companies up for sale include Pawan Hans, Hindustan News print, Scooters India, etc. In light of the need to contain fiscal deficit, this move is being considered crucial.

केंद्र सरकार ने बीमार और घाटे में चल रहे सरकारी उपक्रमों की रणनीतिक बिक्री और विनिवेश को सैद्धांतिक रूप से मंजूरी प्रदान कर दी है। सरकार के इस कदम से निजीकरण की जो प्रक्रिया पिछले लगभग एक दशक से रुकी हुई थी, एक बार फिर से तेजी पकड़ने की संभावना बढ़ गई है। मंत्रिमंडल की आर्थिक मामलों की समिति ने बिक्री को द्वि-स्तरीय नीलामी के माध्यम से मंजूरी दी है। इस प्रक्रिया में शामिल होने वाली कंपनियों में पवन हंस, हिंदुस्तान न्यूज़ प्रिंट, स्कूटर्स इंडिया इत्यादि कंपनियां शामिल हैं। राजकोषीय घाटे को नियंत्रण में लाने हेतु इन क़दमों की आवश्यकता महसूस हो रही थी।

Large number of Madarsas in Sindh have definite links with terrorists and terror groups - Report
The Pakistani intelligence agencies have confirmed information that about 93 Madarsas in the Sindh province of Pakistan have strong linkages with terrorist groups and terrorists. The government of Pakistan will soon launch operations against such madarsas. This issue was discussed at a meeting of the Chief Minister of Sindh, senior police authorities and the local head of the Pakistan Rangers in Sindh. Read more on Madrasas here.

Former NSA says he wanted to destroy LeT camps after Mumbai Attack
India’s former National Security Adviser (NSA) Shiv Shankar Menon has said that he wanted to take action and destroy the LeT camps in Pakistan immediately after the 26/11 Mumbai Terrorist attack. He said that action at that time would have saved the country a lot of humiliation about incompetence of Indian security agencies.

देश के भूतपूर्व राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार (NSA) शिव शंकर मेनन का कहना है कि वे 26/11 को हुए मुंबई आतंकी हमले के बाद तुरंत ही पाकिस्तान में स्थित विभिन्न आतंकी ठिकानों पर कार्रवाई करना चाहते थे। उनके अनुसार, उन्होंने इस बात के लिए सरकार पर दबाव बनाने की भी कोशिश की थी। उनके अनुसार, यदि यह कार्रवाई उसी समय की जाती तो आज देश की सुरक्षा एजेंसियों को नाकामी की बदनामी नहीं झेलनी पड़ती।
