Hawk engine supplier Rolls Royce paid huge bribes to acquire defence deals
Secret documents accessed by BBC and The Guardian reveal that Rolls Royce, an important player in the Indian defence market and manufacturer of Hawk engines, and other supplier companies have paid huge amounts of bribes to an alleged Indian arms dealer to acquire defence deals in India. The documents reveal payment of an amount of around 100 million Euros during 12 month period. The arms dealer Mr. Sudhir Chaudhari has been questioned by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) for various arms deals in the past. Read The Hindu

Prime Minister Modi is on a visit to Chhattisgarh on the occasion of the state’s foundation day. While unveiling the statue of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya in front of the state Mantralaya building, the PM said that we should remember former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee on this occasion who gave the state of Chhattisgarh. Pakistan is continuously violating ceasefire in Kashmir. In a fresh attempt by Pakistan in the Kashmir valley, eight civilians were killed in Pak shelling and many others were injured. The Indian security forces are now giving a befitting reply to Pakistan. In response to Pakistan’s ceasefire violation, the Indian forces also made heavy firing and shelling and destroyed 14 Pakistani posts in the process. After the NJAC was annulled by the Supreme Court, its replacement - the Memorandum of Procedure (MOP) - never saw the light of the day. The Apex court had recently criticised the govt. for the delay in appointment of judges, and asked if the govt. wanted to stall the whole judicial process.
