A civilian project under MGNREGA is under way in Demchok area of Leh district of Ladakh and strangely, China has objected to the same. As a result the Chinese People’s Liberation Army came very close to the LAC, and the ITBP was engaged in a face-off with it. PLA has been there since Wednesday and has refused to go back. It is strange that China chooses to use entire illegally occupied PoK to push its mega project despite Indian objections, and objects to India making projects inside its own territory. Read The Hindu

GST Council decides on four-tier tax rate structure
The GST Council has reached a consensus on the tax rate structure. It has been agreed to have a four-tier rate structure which is 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. It was also agreed that 50% items that fall under the consumer price index basket will have a zero tax, whereas items of mass use will attract a duty of 5%. Thus, the common man will get the maximum relief. Also, it was decided to open up the online portal GSTN for people's use and experience next week, before its final rollout on 01st April 2017. जीएसटी के तहत चार स्तरीय कर संरचना पर जीएसटी परिषद में सहमति बनी
वित्त मंत्री अरुण जेटली की अध्यक्षता में आज हुई जीएसटी परिषद की बैठक में 5 प्रतिशत, 12 प्रतिशत, 18 प्रतिशत और 28 प्रतिशत की चार स्तरीय कर संरचना पर सहमति बन गई। बैठक में इस बात पर भी सहमति बनी कि उपभोक्ता मूल्य सूचकांक की टोकरी में शामिल 50 प्रतिशत वस्तुओं पर शून्य कर लगेगा, जबकि आम जनता द्वारा उपभोग की जाने वाली वस्तुओं पर 5 प्रतिशत प्रशुल्क लिया जाएगा। साथ ही ये भी तय है कि ऑनलाइन पोर्टल जीएसटीएन को अगले हफ्ते से ही लोगों के अनुभव हेतु खोल दिया जायेगा, और ०१ अप्रैल २०१७ से वो प्रारम्भ हो जायेगा। जागरण देखें

The stubborn attitude of BCCI officials, particularly its President Anurag Thakur, and Secretary Ajay Shirke, has landed the England series into trouble, sources in the Supreme Court appointed Lodha Panel have said. BCCI is yet to sign an MoU with ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) regarding the financial aspects of the series. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal seemingly has decided to extract maximum political mileage from the tragic suicide of ex-armyman Shri Ramkishan Grewal. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that the problems related to the payment of pension under OROP to one lakh army personnel would be resolved in the next two months. He said that the ministry was facing these problems in case of around one lakh personnel, mainly due to technical reasons. ICICI, HDFC cut home loan rate by 0.15%
After SBI announced reduction in its home loan rate a couple of days back to bring it down to 9.1%, the two large private sector banks ICICI and HDFC also also cut their home loan rates by 0.15 percent.
