Former TN CM J Jayalalitha was laid to rest at Marina beach in Chennai with full state honours. She was buried near the memorial of her mentor Dr. M G Ramachandran. Lakhs of followers gathered along the entire route to pay their last homage to the departed leader. Earlier in the day, all leaders including the President, the Prime Minister and leaders of other political parties paid rich tributes to her. The void created by her death would be difficult to fill. 5. High Court questions RBI’s power to limit bank withdrawals
During the hearing regarding restrictions on DCCBs, the Gujarat High Court asked the Reserve Bank of India under what authority had it put limits on withdrawals by bank account holders from their own deposits. 9. BSNL to come up with Rs 149 plan that offers unlimited voice calls to all networks
At a time when Reliance Jio’s free voice call has been facing call drop issues, but attracting subscribers in large numbers, state-owned BSNL is coming up to challenge it with its unlimited voice call tariff initiative starting at Rs 149 per month, likely to be launched in the new year. Saudi Arabia’s Islamic Development Bank has consented to give a loan of $ 500 million to part finance the $15 billion Turkmenistan- Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) natural gas pipeline project. An agreement to extend the said loan amount to the TAPI project consortium was inked recently.
