- 1. Indian economy – The Union Budget for 2017-18 was presented in the Parliament on February 1. It was the first time that was the budget was proponed and presented on the first day of February. It may be a harbinger of things to come!
2. Indian economy - For the first time in 93 years, the Railway budget was presented as a part of the Union Budget. Again, this is part of a bigger strategy perhaps.
3. Indian economy - The finance minister summed up the budget as TEC – Transform, Energise, Clean. This reflected in various aspects of the document.
4. World politics – The White House has signaled a tougher stance towards Iran following the recent missile test. America has officially put Iran “on notice”. This can escalate the situation in Middle East.
5. Indian economy – The finance minister announced the government’s plans to form a giant national oil company by combining state-owned firms. This is being contemplated as India wants to expand its foreign presence to meet growing fuel demand. This is similar to what China has done in a different context.
6. Games and sports – India beat England by 75 runs in the third T-20 match to clinch the series 2-1. Youngster Yajuvendra Chahal captured six wickets. India has now defeated England in all formats of the game in the just concluded series.
7. Constitution and law – The finance minister has indicated that reforms will be undertaken to simplify, rationalize and merge existing labour laws into four codes – Wages, industrial relations, social security and welfare, working conditions.
8. Indian economy – In an effort to squeeze unaccounted money and discourage the use of cash, cash transactions of above Rs. 3 lakhs would not be allowed. Limit for anonymous political donations in cash has also been slashed from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 2,000. This may be the beginning of a larger movement soon.
9. Indian Economy – Affordable housing has been given the infrastructure status in the budget. This meets the long standing demand of the real estate sector. This will help reduce the project cost for the developers.
10. Indian economy – The finance minister announced a series of tax concessions for the MSMEs. This move is expected to generate more jobs, in a nation starved of fresh jobs.

- 1. भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था - वर्ष 2017-18 का केंद्रीय बजट 1 फरवरी को संसद में प्रस्तुत किया गया। ऐसा पहली बार हुआ है कि बजट फरवरी के अंत की बजाय फरवरी के पहले दिन प्रस्तुत किया गया। ये आने वाले समय में बडे परिवर्तनों का सूचक हो सकता है!
2. भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था - 93 वर्षों में पहली बार रेल बजट स्वतंत्र रूप से प्रस्तुत नहीं किया गया है, बल्कि इसे आम बजट के हिस्से के रूप में ही प्रस्तुत किया गया। ये भी एक व्यापक रणनीति का भाग दिखता है।
3. भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था - वित्त मंत्री ने बजट को टीईसी - ट्रांसफॉर्म, एनरजाईज, क्लीन (परिवर्तन, क्रियाशील, स्वच्छ) के रूप में सारांशित किया। ये दस्तावेज के अलग-अलग हिस्सो में दिखाई दिया।
4. विश्व राजनीति - ईरान द्वारा हाल ही में किये गए मिसाइल परीक्षण के बाद वाइट हाउस ने ईरान के विरुद्ध अधिक कड़े रुख के संकेत दिए हैं। अमेरिका ने आधिकारिक रूप से ईरान को “सूचना पर” रखा है। इससे मध्यपूर्व में स्थिति बिगड़ सकती है।
5. भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था - वित्त मंत्री ने सरकार की सभी तेल कंपनियों के विलय द्वारा एक विशाल तेल कंपनी बनाने की योजना की घोषणा की। तेल की बढती घरेलू मांग की पूर्ति और अपनी विदेशी उपस्थिति में वृद्धि की दृष्टि से यह प्रस्ताव किया गया है। ये ठिक वैसा ही है जैसा एक अलग परिप्रेक्ष्य में चीन ने किया है।
6. क्रीडा और खेल - भारत ने तीसरे टी-20 मैच में इंग्लैंड को 75 रन से हराया और इस प्रकार श्रृंखला पर 2-1 से कब्जा किया। युवा गेंदबाज याजुवेंद्र चहल ने छह विकेट लिए। इस प्रकार भारत ने पहली बार इंग्लैंड को श्रृंखला के तीनों प्रारूपों में पराजित किया है।
7. संविधान और कानून - वित्त मंत्री ने संकेत दिए हैं कि विद्यमान श्रम कानूनों के सरलीकरण, युक्तिकरण और विलय के लिए श्रम कानूनों में सुधार किये जाएँगे और इन्हें चार संहिताओं - वेतन, औद्योगिक संबंध, सामाजिक सुरक्षा, और कल्याण - में विभाजित किया जाएगा।
8. भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था - बेहिसाब धन को नियंत्रित करने और नकदी के उपयोग को हतोत्साहित करने के प्रयास में 3 लाख से अधिक के नकद लेनदेन पर प्रतिबंध लगाया जाएगा। राजनीतिक दलों को किये जाने वाले बेनामी दान की सीमा को 20,000 रुपये से घटाकर 2,000 रुपये किया गया है। ये एक बड़ी व्यापक कार्यवाही की षुरूआत दिखती है।
9. भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था - बजट में सस्ते आवास क्षेत्र को अधोसंरचना का दर्जा दिया गया है। यह कदम रियल एस्टेट क्षेत्र की लंबे समय से इस बारे में की जा रही मांग की पूर्ति करता है। यह कदम विकासकर्ताओं की परियोजना लागत में कमी करने में सहायक होगा।
10. भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था - वित्त मंत्री ने सूक्ष्म, लघु और मध्यम उपक्रमों (एमएसएमई) को करों में भारी राहत की घोषणा की है। माना जाता है कि इसके कारण रोजगार में काफी वृद्धि होगी, एक ऐसी स्थिति में जहां रोजगार की भारी कमी है।

- 1. India’s premier research and development organization – the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) – came into existence in 1958.
2. It was constituted by the merger of Indian army’s Technical Development Establishment (TDE) and Directorate of Technical Development and Production (DTDP) with Defence Science Organisation (DSO).
3. DRDO is responsible for the design, development and lead to produce state-of-art sensors, weapon systems, platforms and other equipments. It is the backbone of Indian strategic weapons development structure.
4. The Brahmos Supersonic cruise missile has been jointly developed by DRDO and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroeyenia. It is the world’s fastest cruise missile under operation, also available for sale to friendly nations.
5. The DRDO has developed a remotely controlled and electrically operated robot which is used for locating and destroying hazardous objects. It is India’s first remotely operated vehicle.
6. The DRDO has also developed a non lethal grenade which uses resin from one of the hottest chillies in the world. This is in line with non-lethal decapacitation.
7. DRDO is in the process of developing a 25 KW laser system capable of destroying missiles in their terminal phase.
8. J. Manjula, a recognized scientist, has been appointed as the first women Director General of the Electronics and Communication System cluster of DRDO.
9. DRDO has developed the most advanced radar, The Through Barrier Imaging Radar, named Divya Chakshu (divine eye). It is capable of producing images from the other side of the barrier up to a distance of 20 meters.
10. In hostage situations also, the Divya Chakshu radar can easily give an idea of the number of persons in the room and their movements.

4. ब्रह्मोस पराध्वनिक क्रूज मिसाइल का विकास भारत के डीआरडीओ और रूस के एनपीओ मशीनोस्त्रोनेइया द्वारा संयुक्त रूप से किया गया है। यह विश्व की सबसे तेज क्रूज मिसाइल है, जो मित्र देषों के लिए खरीद हेतु उपलब्घ है।
5. डीआरडीओ ने एक सुदूर नियंत्रित और विद्युत चालित रोबोट विकसित किया है जिसका उपयोग खतरनाक वस्तुओं के स्थिति ज्ञान, और उनके विनाश के लिए किया जाता है। यह भारत का पहला सुदूर संचालित वाहन है।
6. डीआरडीओ ने एक गैर घातक ग्रेनेड विकसित किया है जिसमें विश्व की सबसे तीक्ष्ण मिर्ची का उपयोग किया जाता है। ये गैर-हानिकारक युद्ध के तहत है।
7. डीआरडीओ एक 25 किलोवाट लेजर प्रणाली विकसित कर रहा है जो मिसाइल को अवसान चरण पर नष्ट करने में सक्षम होगी।
8. जे. मंजुला, जो एक मान्यताप्राप्त वैज्ञानिक हैं, को डीआरडीओ के इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और संचार प्रणाली क्लस्टर की पहली महिला महानिदेशक के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।
9. डीआरडीओ ने एक अति उन्नत राडार, द थ्रु बैरियर इमेजिंग राडार, विकसित किया है जिसे दिव्य चक्षु नाम दिया गया है। यह 20 मीटर तक की दूरी से बाधा की दूसरी ओर से चित्र लेने में सक्षम है।
10. बंधक स्थिति में दिव्य चक्षु राडार आसानी से कमरे में मौजूद व्यक्तियों की संख्या और उनकी गतिविधियों के बारे में जानकारी देने में सक्षम है।
