• 1. World economy – Technology companies like Facebook, Apple, Google, Netflix and others have joined together with other companies to take legal action against Donald Trump’s executive orders on immigration.
  2. Natural and other disasters – An earthquake of moderate intensity (5.8 on Richter Scale) rocked Uttarakhand on Monday night. The tremors of the same could be felt in Delhi and other parts of northern India
  3. Persons and personalities – Colonel Nizamuddin, a close aide of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, who died on Monday, would be laid to rest today. PM Modi has paid tribute to the departed soldier.
  4. Companies, products, services – Ousted Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry was voted out as director of the company by a majority vote at the EGM of the company held at the company headquarters. Read about the full battle here in a Bodhi.
  5. Demonetisation – The Income Tax department has said that it would not ask any questions about deposits of up to Rs. 2.5 lakh and only those accounts would be probed which do not match the tax returns.
  6. Constitution and law – Telecom Commission has sought clarification from TRAI on the penalty imposed on Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone for failure to provide adequate connectivity to Reliance Jio. The Commission has even questioned whether the regulator has the authority to impose such a penalty.
  7. World politics – China’s influence is growing fast in the Nepalese economy. China has topped the list of countries who have pledged maximum FDI in this small Himalayan state. It becomes a matter of more concern for India, who has so far been close to Nepal.
  8. Constitution and law – Giving a severe blow to Sahara Group, the Supreme Court ordered to  attach its prime Amby Valley property in Pune to recover the dues of SEBI and the investors from the group.
  9. Indian politics – Ahead of the change of leadership in Tamil Nadu, DMK is making a bid to stop Sasikala Natarajan from becoming the state Chief Minister. DMK leader Stalin is due to meet PM Modi for his intervention.
  10. Terrorism – US President Donald Trump has given a strong message to ISIS and all radical Islamic Jihadis that America, alongwith its allies would defeat and destroy the ‘forces of death’.

• 1. विश्व अर्थव्यवस्था - फेसबुक, एप्पल, गूगल और नेटफ्लिक्स जैसी कंपनिया अन्य अनेक कंपनियों के साथ एकजुट होकर अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डॉनल्ड ट्रम्प के विरुद्ध कानूनी कार्रवाई करने जा रही हैं।
  2. प्राकृतिक और अन्य आपदाएं - सोमवार रात उत्तराखंड में 5.8 तीव्रता वाले भूकंप के झटके महसूस किये गए। दिल्ली और अन्य उत्तरी भागों में भी इसका प्रभाव महसूस किया गया।
  3. व्यक्ति और व्यक्तित्व - नेताजी सुभाष चन्द्र बोस के निकट सहयोगी कर्नल निजामुद्दीन, जिनका सोमवार को देहावसान हो गया था, उनका अंतिम संस्कार आज किया जाएगा। प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने दिवंगत सिपाही के प्रति संवेदनाएं व्यक्त की हैं।
  4. कंपनियां, उत्पाद, सेवाएँ - टाटा संस के मुख्यालय में हुई विशेष सर्वसाधारण सभा में समूह के बर्खास्त अध्यक्ष साइरस मिस्त्री के विरुद्ध भारी मतदान करके उन्हें कंपनी के निदेशक पद से हटा दिया गया है। इस लड़ाई पर पूरी जानकारी पाएं हमारी बोधि में, यहाँ।
  5. विमुद्रीकरण - आयकर विभाग ने कहा है कि 2.5 लाख रुपये तक की जमाराशियों के बारे में विभाग किसी प्रकार की पूछताछ नहीं करेगा, जबकि ऐसे जमाकर्ताओं की जांच की जाएगी जिनकी जमा उनके आयकर विवरण से मेल नहीं खाती है।
  6. संविधान और कानून - दूरसंचार आयोग ने भारती एयरटेल, आईडिया सेलुलर और वोडाफोन पर रिलायंस जियो को पर्याप्त संयोजकता प्रदान नहीं करने पर ट्राई द्वारा इन कंपनियों पर लगाए गए जुर्माने पर नियामक से स्पष्टीकरण माँगा है। आयोग ने इस बारे में भी प्रश्न उठाए हैं कि नियामक को ऐसा जुर्माना लगाने का अधिकार है या नहीं।
  7. विश्व राजनीति - नेपाल की अर्थव्यवस्था में चीन का प्रभाव लगातार बढ़ता जा रहा है। नेपाल को विदेशी प्रत्यक्ष निवेश प्रदान करने वाले देशों की सूची में चीन एक बार फिर से शीर्ष पर है। भारत के लिए यह चिंता का विषय है क्योंकि भारत अब तक नेपाल का निकट सहयोगी रहा है।
  8. संविधान और कानून - सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने सहारा समूह को एक और तगड़ा झटका दिया है। सोमवार को दिए गए अपने निर्णय में न्यायालय ने समूह की पुणे स्थित प्रतिष्ठित अम्बी वैली संपत्ति को जब्त करने के आदेश दिए हैं ताकि सेबी और निवेशकों की बकाया धनराशि का भुगतान किया जा सके।
  9. भारतीय राजनीति - तमिलनाडु में सत्ता परिवर्तन के पहले विरोधी दल डीएमके शशिकला के मुख्यमंत्री बनने की राह में रुकावटें पैदा करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है। इस सिलसिले में डीएमके नेता स्टालिन प्रधानमंत्री मोदी से मुलाकात करके उनसे हस्तक्षेप का अनुरोध करेंगे।
  10. आतंकवाद - राष्ट्रपति डॉनल्ड ट्रम्प ने आईएसआईएस और अन्य कट्टरपंथी इस्लामिक जिहादी गुटों को कठोर संदेश दिया है कि अमेरिका अपने सहयोगियों के साथ ‘मौत के इन सौदागरों’ को न केवल पराजित करेगा बल्कि उन्हें पूरी तरह से नष्ट कर देगा।

• 1. India’s AGNI is one or the best missile series in the world. It failed in its first two tests and was mocked at, but succeeded in the third attempt.
  2. Agni and Prithvi both are nuclear-capable ballistic missiles and are among the most accurate in the world in their respective categories.
  3. Officers of Indian Army and those of Pakistani Army undertake joint operations for the UN peacekeeping missions.
  4. The Indian Army was formed in 1776, under the government of the East India Company in Kolkata.
  5. The Indian Army has 9 army bases and about 53 cantonments spread across the country.
  6. Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force in India, which was constituted in the year 1835.
  7. Established in the year 1773, the President’s bodyguard is the oldest armoured regiment of the Indian Army.
  8. The Grenadiers Regiment, one of the oldest regiments of the Indian Army  has the honour of having the most number of Param Vir Chakra awardees (India’s highest military award). The Regiment has three PVC awardees in its ranks.
  9. Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee was the first Indian Chief of Air Staff of the Indian Air Force.
  10. Vice Admiral RD Katari was the first Indian Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy.

  8. भारतीय थलसेना की सबसे पुरानी रेजिमेंट्स में से एक ग्रेनेडियर रेजिमेंट को सर्वाधिक परमवीर चक्र (भारत का सर्वोच्च सैन्य सम्मान) हासिल करने का गौरव प्राप्त है। इस रेजिमेंट को अब तक 3 पीवीसी प्राप्त हुए हैं।
  9. एयर मार्शल सुब्रोतो मुखर्जी भारतीय वायुसेना के पहले भारतीय वायुसेना प्रमुख थे।
  10. वाईस एडमिरल आर डी कटारी भारतीय नौसेना के पहले भारतीय नौसेना प्रमुख थे।
